I have been very lucky in that despite troubling statistics I have not been the victim of a home invasion.
I survived two attempts, one in a rural area and one in an urban area, but none that gained entry. I suffered one break in when I was not at home. That seems about average. I have had a number of animals on the property that had to be dispatched. Some were rodents, others reptiles, and an invasive opossum. Many reasons exist for keeping a firearm handy!

The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on June 23, 2022, to strike down New York’s handgun carrying law significantly impacts Second Amendment rights, making it easier for Americans to carry firearms in public. This ruling reflects a broader interpretation of the Amendment, which states, “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,” and has fueled ongoing debates about the balance between individual rights and public safety. |

Colorado’s law requiring people to be at least 21 years old to buy a gun can stand, a federal judge ruled. The ruling is a definitive win for gun control advocates and a blow to the group Rocky Mountain Gun Owners and two young people hoping to purchase guns, who sued Gov. Jared Polis to block the law in 2023. Chief U.S. District Judge Philip A. Brimmer sided with Polis and said in his ruling that the plaintiffs could not prove that the law violated their rights. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.' The right of the whole people, old and young, men, women and boys, and not militia only, to keep and bear arms of every description, and not such merely as are used by the militia, shall not be infringed, curtailed, or broken in upon, in the smallest degree; and all this for the important end to be attained: the rearing up and qualifying a well-regulated militia, so vitally necessary to the security of a free State. Our opinion is that any law, State or Federal, is repugnant to the Constitution, and void, which contravenes this right. [Nunn vs. State, 1 Ga. (1 Kel.) 243, at 251 (1846)] |
