"U.S. military experts received a jubilant but chaotic welcome Tuesday from thousands of Liberians pleading for an American-led rescue mission to help end their West African country's ruinous civil war." ...

" 'Why doesn't U.S. send the peacekeepers?' complained Kareem Koffa, who was selling gas out of jerry cans by the roadside. 'If they don't, people will go on a rampage if Taylor steps down. It will be too dangerous for normal people who don't have weapons.' "

If Iraq is any indication, the US will attempt to relieve Liberians of their weapons and be powerless to protect them from marauders.

Gun Control Is Socialist

"To the extent that the United States has imposed gun controls on a population 'protected' by our Bill of Rights, we have a measure of how socialist our country has become. Our government was founded on the idea that individuals have God-given rights that need to be protected from that same government. Furthermore, government was seen as having no rights, but only a few well-defined duties. Socialism requires the reversal of our founding premises." ...

"Consider who are the most ardent gun control advocates in America. Senators Charles Schumer, Hillary Clinton and Diane Feinstein are among the most eager to ban guns, and they are among the most socialist of our national politicians." ...

"Health officials are planning an extensive bioterrorism drill in the Baltimore area that will send volunteers, wearing makeup and acting as though they have been infected with smallpox or other diseases, to area hospitals." ...

"Organizers wouldn't reveal when the practice will start, noting that they want to maintain some element of surprise."

"The volunteers, who will pretend to have symptoms of diseases, will wear shirts proclaiming 'this is only an exercise' so that doctors won't be tricked into abandoning patients with real health emergencies to attend to actors, officials said yesterday." ...

"The $60,000 cost of the drill is coming from a federal grant received by the state."

"The federal government also recently pledged $10.9 million to help prepare the Baltimore region for a possible attack."

"O'Malley said the city probably will receive about $4 million of that total after suburban counties and state government get their share."

"Several traditionally pro-self defense rights newspaper editorial boards have recently published editorials calling upon passage of Am. Sub. HB12 (as amended by the Senate). It is obvious to anyone reading these opinions that they are based on a lack of familiarity with just how egregious the Senate's amendments are (especially the Taft 'Car-jacker Protection' provision), and just how many more law-abiding citizens would be threatened with arrest and prosecution due to the Senate's changes."

Instead of wild speculation and ridiculous claims along the lines of 'shoot-outs over fender benders' and 'blood running in the streets,' why don’t we instead use the real facts, live data and recent history?"

"There are over 50 million man-years of concealed carry behind us right now. That is four million CCW’s over 12-plus years, in 32, now 33 states. Then there is Vermont, where you never needed any permit."

"Those who oppose this view seem to be constantly trying to deny me that right, but do so by subterfuge, questionable statistics and studies, and a calculated gradualism aimed at the elimination of all firearms. Lawsuits aimed at holding gun manufacturers responsible for the actions of criminals are already taking place. The next manifestation of this gradualism will probably be a call to ban 'sniper rifles' - the definition of which, as noted, can include just about any rifle."

"I hope you all read the Doonesburry Comic by Garry Trudeau published June 28th. He is making fun of the NRA and Wayne LaPierre. Basically Mr. LaPiaborterre is asking Congress not to take automatic weapons from the Iraq people. Then it goes on to say that Congress is about to restore this right to bear automatic weapons to the people of America. It would be hypocrisy not to allow the Iraqi's this same right, according to Trudeau." ...

"That's when America will no longer be the Home of the Free and Brave. We fought a war to get away from England and the king because we wanted freedom to live our lives our way without the government interfering. So why has Mr. Trudeau and others lost sight of that? Perhaps it goes back to their parenting. Perhaps he and others like him would be much happier living in France or some other nation of cowards. So if you don't like freedom, leave America to those of us who do."

"O'Dwyer's Metal Storm weapons are unlike any guns on earth. Their firing systems are electronic and have no moving parts. In Metal Storm weapons, the part that makes the gun fire moves at the speed of light." ...

After a deadly shooting at a Jefferson City factory last week, Missouri leaders are reviewing the state's gun trading policy. Last Wednesday, Johnathan Russell shot and killed three co-workers at the Modine manufacturing plant in Jefferson City before turning the gun on himself. The gun used in the shooting once belonged to the highway patrol. Russell bought the gun from a resale shop after the patrol traded more than 14-hundred of its semiautomatic pistols for upgraded guns.

Representatives for Governor Holden's office say no formal steps have been taken in the review.

So now Missouri wants to waste taxpayer dollars by destroying the guns instead.

FULL STORY BELOW:

A former sergeant-at-arms will have the opportunity to fight the new federal gun registry when he goes on trial in November.

Oscar Lacombe, charged with carrying a weapon to a public meeting and being unlawfully in possession of a weapon without a licence or a registration certificate, will stand trial Nov. 7. He wasn't charged under the new federal firearms act.

On New Year's Day, Lacombe, 74, brought his gun to a protest against the federal gun registry at the Alberta legislature.

Opponents of the federal gun registry had started raising money for Lacombe's defence long before he was charged.

"The Ministry of Education has issued an edict that firearms will no longer be allowed in B.C. schools after a rifle went off in a Fort St. John classroom during a hunter-safety program."

"The ministry is also reviewing the policy of hunter training in schools." ...

-------
If a firearm "went off" in a controlled classroom environment, someone is not teaching something right.

"The family of Paul Childs, who was fatally shot over the weekend, wants to know why police used bullets instead of a taser stun gun, or other less lethal weapon." ...

"The Denver Police Department has said that two of the responding officers did have tasers with them."

Instead the officer chose to shoot the knife-wielding teen.

-------
If police refuse to use tasers why should pilots or anyone else use them?

"A company called Accu-Counter in Kenton County will receive a $2 million contract to provide its unique product for firearms to it military."

"The device, called an Accu-Counter, is like a 'black box' for a gun. It keeps a microchip record of the time, date and number of rounds fired from a weapon. The quarter-size microchip device is already in use in Newport, where it measures use of the officers' Glock 9mm sidearms."

-------
How long before New Jersey requires these "black boxes" to be installed on all firearms sold?

"Making the bullets go where you want them to go is fairly easy. What I discovered is that the little details - the most important ones - take longer to get the hang of. Like making sure there isn't a bullet in the chamber when you're finished, and putting forth the conscious effort to keep the gun pointed away from other people at all times."

"Let us take the arguments of the pro-gun group one by one."

"One, the right to bear arms is a constitutional right."

"Why so? There is nothing in the Constitution that says so. Unlike the American Constitution, the Philippine Constitution does not guarantee the right to bear arms."

"A constitutional right is one that aspires toward universality, or applies to everyone and not just a few individuals. If it benefits only a few individuals, then it is not a right, it is a privilege."

-------
The right to life is a universal one, applying to all individuals, and as such, the right to defend that life with the most effective tool available is an extension.

"Their apparent home invasion is believed to be one of a string of 15 similar incidents that have happened in the Niles and South Bend area since April."

"In most of the incidents, the assailants have targeted senior citizens, often overpowering them, tying them up, and terrorizing them while searching their homes for money and valuables."

"And as the toll continues to mount, others who have not been victimized are beginning to lose their sense of security, as entire neighborhoods keep a wary eye for suspicious strangers who might be plotting the next robbery."

"Armed robbers carjacked a Bronx police officer on his way home from work yesterday morning, fleeing in his car as he fired shots at them from his service weapon, police said."

"The officer was driving home from his shift around 12:20 am when a black pickup truck rear-ended him twice."

"The second time he and the truck's driver got out of their vehicles, and the truck's driver began telling the officer, who was not in uniform, not to call police, authorities said."

-------
So while New York City has all but banned private firearms ownership, those tasked to protect the now-virtually defenseless citizens cannot even retain their own equipment.

This is a good reason why EVERYONE should know how to use firearms, especially military ones! That way everyone knows how to maintain and shoot their weapons, and they will be functional in times of need.
