"With the administration making clear that retaliation remains an option, with complicit politicians and media abetting whistleblowers being ignored and/or discredited, and with a timid GOP leadership that appears more concerned with restraining Darrell Issa than with anything else, it’s fair to ask why a lone agent would want to go out on a limb and have confidence it won’t be sawed off, and that no one able to do anything about it will care."

On Saturday last, VCDL held a picnic in Green Hill Park in Salem, VA. The event, billed as the “Oh yes we can!” picnic garnered quite a bit of media attention.

The picnic, which was attended by over 150 people despite the at-times torrential rain, was held to protest a badly worded Roanoke County ordinance concerning guns in parks.

In purporting to comply with the state preemption statute which strips localities of the power to regulate the possession and transportation of firearms, the ordinance says:

Sec. 15-8. – Prohibited uses of parks.

(6) … No person shall within a park use, carry or possess firearms, ammunition or combinations thereof, as expressly prohibited by statute ...

The National Rifle Association has decided to throw its considerable weight behind Mitt Romney in this year’s election. That is no surprise; the gun lobby has always viewed Barack Obama and his administration with suspicion. But the NRA says is it “all in” to defeat Obama; we will see what that translates into as the campaign continues.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg slammed the NYCLU for its opposition to the city's stop-and-frisk policy Sunday, calling the civil liberties group "dangerously wrong on the Constitution" and “no better than the NRA.” Speaking at the Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York in Queens on the heels of a disturbing spike in gun violence, the mayor continued to defend the controversial practice, which has come under fire from critics who say it unfairly targets and alienates communities of color.

One of the recent appointments to the committee is Iran, a country recently censored by the Security Council for supplying arms to Syria. Many of the delegates there are from despotic regimes that take pride in their disarmed populaces. Even our "friends" like the United Kingdom have disarmed their citizens to the point of making them impotent in matters of self defense.

Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law continues to enjoy widespread support among likely voters, even as a state task force considers rewriting the law. This consideration is due to the media and public uprising stemming from the Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman case, according to a news poll.

According to the poll, nearly 65 percent say the 2005 law does not need to be changed. “Stand Your Ground” allows people, who believe they are in grave danger, to use deadly force to defend themselves. However; those numbers don’t reflect when it comes to voters’ thoughts on the Trayvon Martin shooting, which has forced the “Stand Your Ground” law into the national spotlight, according to the Miami Herald.

To justify its change of opinion on forward pistol grips, BATFE stated, “there is a convincing argument that this feature is generally recognized as particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes because it permits accuracy and maneuverability even for activities such as bird hunting or skeet shooting.” The update also mentions public comments explaining the importance of forward pistol grips for disabled shooters. BATFE goes on to explain that its determination of forward pistol grips as sporting necessitates their acceptance of integrated rail systems, as rail systems are the primary way in which shooters mount forward pistol grips.

It’s usually the “liberal Democrats” who take heat over Second Amendment issues, but now it’s GOP legislators in Tennessee who are feeling the wrath of the nation’s highest-profile gun rights organization, the National Rifle Association.

The NRA learned of a problem in Oklahoma several years ago when some co-workers had planned to go do some target shooting one day after work. When their boss learned they had guns in their cars, they were fired, due to workplace rules against weapons on company property. In another Oklahoma case, 12 workers were fired when the company found they had firearms stored in their locked vehicles parked on company property.

“The shocking thing is it won’t have to pass the Senate. Under the Vienna Convention, which the United States had signed and ratified, once Hillary Clinton signs this treaty — which she’s going to do on July 27 unless we can stop her — that treaty remains in effect until a subsequent president renounces it,” declared Morris. “If Obama’s re-elected, he won’t. And (Senate Majority Leader) Harry Reid will probably never bring this treaty up for a vote. We’ll be bound by it simply by Hillary’s signature, unless President Romney can renounce it.”

Wilson's campaign said the endorsement was a political ploy by environmentalists cloaked as sportsmen to further their liberal agenda.

"This group is part of the same environmental extremists that are spending a million dollars to falsely attack Heather because she doesn't share their job-killing agenda," said Wilson campaign spokesman Chris Sanchez.

An antigun group based in Lincolnwood, Illinois is trying to block the opening of a gun shop and range in that village.

Although the shop owner enjoys the support of local public officials, there are some zoning changes that must be made. Those zoning changes will be debated at a public meeting on Tuesday, July 17th with a board vote to follow.

The anti-gun group will be there to try to bully the village board into banning the shop and range. You need to be there to make it clear that you will not tolerate antigunner attempts to stifle your right to keep and bear arms.

As lawful gun owners, you need to come to the defense of the 2nd Amendment and show your support for the shop and range.

Washington State’s wolf debate has taken on a new dimension with the announcement by the Department of Fish and Wildlife that a rancher in Stevens County has received a permit to kill a wolf if the animal is caught attacking livestock.

This happened Friday and it was apparently lost in the weekend news rush, along with a related development in Montana about that state's season on wolves, which will now allow trapping.

But who is monitoring the activity of those who own guns and those who “carry” guns?
These activities could very well be used interchangeably, which is why stricter laws should be instituted and enforced. Individuals who desire to get a permit can do so simply by filling out an application. After one fills out the application with its necessary materials, in addition
to completing a very basic training, a permit can be acquired in a matter of days. No knowledge on gun safety or storage is required.

Concealed carry applicants in Wisconsin would have to learn about the use of deadly force and how to avoid violent situations under new rules the state Justice Department has proposed.

DOJ has been operating under temporary rules governing how the agency issues permits since the concealed carry law went into effect. Those rules require training but don't lay out any specifics.

If you appreciate how America’s Founding Fathers crafted our Constitution, just imagine if they’d had help from today’s United Nations.

Right now, do-gooders from across the globe are gathered at the UN to protect us. This time it’s not from big threats like nuclear war or global warming. No, this time they want an international treaty to control smaller weapons, namely hand-carried firearms.

Montana’s Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today sent a letter to House Speaker John Boehner requesting floor consideration of the Second Amendment Sovereignty Act which he introduced with Ben Quayle.

The legislation would prevent the United States from participating in the crafting of a United Nations (UN) Arms Trade Treaty, which many see as an international threat to the Second Amendment.

Anti-gun Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (NV) really does not want gun owners’ voices to be heard in Washington, D.C.

Anti-gun Democrat leaders have scheduled a vote for Monday, July 16, on the so-called DISCLOSE Act.

You may recall that the DISCLOSE Act passed the House in 2010 but died in the Senate after an intense lobbying effort by Gun Owners of America and other groups.

Missourians who were convicted of a crime years ago now have a chance to have their criminal record erased.

A new law signed by the governor does not include crimes of violence or drug convictions, but people covered by the law could have their convictions expunged after 10 years for a misdemeanor and 20 years for a felony.
