"Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) is not your average Chicagoland congressman. He is actually pro-gun and pro-Second Amendment unlike many of others. Walsh spoke at the 2011 Gun Rights Policy Conference held in Chicago and gave a very pro-gun speech."

"This past December he introduced HR 3594, the Second Amendment Protection Act, which hits directly at proposed the Arms Trade Treaty. It would cut off all funding to the United Nations unless the president certified that the UN had not taken actions that would infringe on the rights of Americans to possess firearms and ammunition." ...

... "That Jim Holmes reacted on his Colorado Tea Party Patriots website page to '[t]he blatantly lazy and inept report of Brian Ross that I am, and by extension CTPP, is linked to the deranged murderer in Aurora.'"

"Mr. Holmes has a very good point. A cursory search of sites like Zabasearch and WhitePages.com turns up numerous same name hits in his area, which makes floating a name and an affiliation out before a national audience irresponsible at best, as are counter-charges, offered as yet without corroborating documentation, that the shooter is a member of 'Occupy Black Bloc.'" ...

"Should gun control really be so controversial?"

"'There are people who want to own guns for recreational or self-defense purposes, and on the other side, I don't think anyone wants to see someone walk into a crowded movie theater and kill people,' said Art Markman, professor of psychology at the University of Texas. The goal is obvious: protect the former while minimizing the chance of the latter."

"Unlike pistols, which I spent a lot of time exploring on my own, shotguns, were something, on which I felt, I should be instructed. I don’t have a shotgun, and while my range rents a number of options, I felt it more appropriate to take on this long gun in it’s natural habitat, outdoors. Many shotgun wielding friends were willing join me, but since the nearest outdoor range is more than 1.5 hours away, finding time proved difficult. Eventually, I opted to wait for the Girls Gun Getaway."

"You may have noticed – I kinda have a thing for the .460 Rowland cartridge. Part of that is due to getting to shoot a Wilson Combat Hunter in .460 Rowland while testing the cartridge for Ballistics By The Inch. Getting a 230-grain bullet to over 1200 fps out of a 1911-style gun just impressed the hell out of me."

Do Copper Bullets offer the same Performance to Hunters as Lead Bullets?

"Since the birth of the firearm, lead projectiles have reigned supreme. There is good reason for this. Lead is abundant, relatively cheap, easily melted and cast, and possesses a density and malleability that makes it nearly ideal for use in high-speed projectiles."

"In recent decades, however, a number of bullet makers bucked tradition and began crafting bullets that shunned lead for such materials as copper, gilding metal alloy, and other non-lead metals. Among the alleged results of such alternative designs was a boost in performance that endowed relatively light-for-the-caliber bullets to be used for purposes generally reserved for heavier lead projectiles." ...

"As a Navy Corpsman, I had the opportunity to see the results of a number of injuries, including those involving the face and eyes. I was astounded to see how crucial eye protection, sometimes referred to as 'eye pro,' was and how effective it could be. I saw a number of potentially vision-threatening fragments of metal and other debris stopped by good eye protection. In one case, a large chunk of metal hit a Marine in the face, partially penetrating the lens of his glasses and causing him to lose vision in that eye. Without that eye protection, he most likely would have been killed." ...
