A man who was shot in March during an altercation at a Waffle House in Altamonte Springs was arrested after an investigation found he was the aggressor, according to the Altamonte Springs Police Department.

Vandrae Wright, 29, was arrested on charges of attempted homicide, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon, tampering with evidence and firing a weapon in a public place. A second shooter, Tasheem Selwood, left the scene unscathed and was not charged after the Orange-Osceola State Attorney’s Office determined he acted in self-defense, police spokeswoman Evelyn Estevez said.

Gun Owners of America (GOA) is asking 2A supporters to contact our US Senators to urge them to reject an anti-gun “study” that’s being used to push for more gun control laws, by using children.

They say the skewed study, which uses data from the gun-hating Brady Campaign, was released by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). This association has a history of anti-gun “studies,” but the GOA’s email fails to let us know which study they are referencing. A little research shows they’re citing a study titled “States with Strict Firearm Laws Have Lower Rates of Pediatric Death Due to Firearm Injury,” which was released on July 15.

NY: New York City Is Still Running from Supreme Court Review of Gun Laws

Theoretically, it is possible that NYC officials have, after six years and a countless amount of taxpayer dollars spent on litigation, finally read and understood the Second Amendment and realized the error of their ways.

But let’s not fool ourselves here.

Most likely, city officials realize that they can’t win at the Supreme Court and are trying to preemptively cut their losses before they set “bad precedent” for the gun control movement across the nation. Given the Supreme Court’s nearly decade-long silence on the topic, this case has the potential to bring the lower courts back in line with the Supreme Court’s treatment of the right to keep and bear arms in Heller and McDonald.

Ever since taking control of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Democrat leadership, with the full support of the vast majority of their caucus, has been waging an unprecedented assault on the Second Amendment. Led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), the caucus has been an entity in virtual lock-step promoting a laundry list of today’s most popular anti-gun proposals.

In the wake of two shootings at Philadelphia playgrounds, city and state lawmakers are banding together to ban guns, knives, and other deadly weapons at city parks, recreation centers, and playgrounds.

City Council President Darrell Clarke said Wednesday he plans to introduce such a bill when the body reconvenes in September. Violators would be fined up to $2,000 dollars, face up 90 days in prison, or both.

After Gore’s defeat, it wasn’t until the 2016 presidential campaign that American gun owners were again subjected to such overt hostility from one of the major party’s candidates. Ignoring the sage advice of her husband, Hillary Clinton campaigned on a raft of gun-control policies and expressed her opposition to the U.S. Supreme Court’s opinion in District of Columbia v. Heller, which held that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms. Thanks in no small part to the efforts of NRA members, Clinton would lose in what Politico called the “biggest upset in U.S. history.”

Our Second Amendment freedoms in Virginia are intact today because of the hard work of the hundreds of thousands of Virginians who stood up to the Bloomberg gun-control lobby. Our freedoms are safe for another day because Second Amendment supporters made their voices heard and lawmakers listened. Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) underestimated voters’ ability to see through his political ruse. They understood the special session was a $45,000 taxpayer-funded distraction from the allegations of racism and sexual assault that hang over the Northam administration.

Based on concerns that H.R. 1112 could increase the number of veterans that the VA is required to report to the NICS and cause millions of disabled veterans who have received a disability rating for a mental illness to lose their ability to own a firearm, H.R. 3450 would clarify a veteran’s information should not be automatically sent to the NICS because of a disability rating for mental illness.

Regarding “UN: 5,287 killings in Venezuela security operations in 2018” (July 5): This story is one of the best examples of why there is the Second Amendment. The story says that Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro’s government tallied nearly 5,300 killings during security operations that were classified as cases of “resistance to authority.”

The Founding Fathers had the foresight to give U.S. citizens the right to bear arms in case of tyrannical actions by their government. Here is the proof of why the Second Amendment must remain.

A woman who is at liberty to go out and buy firearms and keep them in her home cannot regain possession of the 12 weapons seized from her residence by police when her husband was undergoing a mental health crisis, under a decision yesterday by the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Giving full faith and credit to California decisions requires deference to a Court of Appeal ruling against the return of the firearms, the federal appeals court said, rejecting the contention that changed circumstances require a different result.
