In 2001, as part of a group of short magnum cartridges released in the early years of the new millennium, Winchester released the first of its Short Magnums – the .300 Winchester Short Magnum, commonly referred to as .300 Win Short Mag or .300 WSM. Designed for American hunters, the ammunition used a standard .300 caliber bullet, but the .300 WSM appeared like a short, stubby-looking round compared to its .300 caliber siblings.

When I asked Cameron Hopkins to choose his favorite machine gun from his 50+ select-fire collection, he grabbed his Hekhler & Koch MP5 SD. Hopkins was at the Big Sandy Shoot in Arizona in March 2021 with his machine guns. As president of SuperVel Ammunition, he also had quite a bit of ammo to put downrange. He loves all of his guns, but if he had to choose one, and only one, it would be his H&K MP5 SD.

Did Elie Mystal, the Harvard-educated journalist and law school graduate, just shoot holes in any argument against a lawsuit scheduled for review by the U.S. Supreme Court challenging the restrictive gun permit laws in New York State?

Writing at The Nation about the case, gun control in New York and elsewhere, and not attempting to mask his pro-gun control sentiments, he might just have done that.

ABC News is running a crime special this week focused on guns, and they are relying on an outlet that counts self-defense shootings as gun violence.

Breitbart News reported that the week-long special is framed as a focus on gun violence across the country. However, in the midst of coverage, ABC News admitted they “dug” down and discovered “violence occurs disproportionately in poorer, urban areas — from Los Angeles to Chicago to New York City.” In other words, Democrat-run cities.

The revolver was our first, successful repeating handgun. Even today, the basic design has remained the same. A revolving cylinder is fitted into the frame with a handle on the bottom. That cylinder has holes drilled in which the charges or cartridges are fitted. This cylinder turns on a pivot pin in the center to align each hole in the cylinder in turn with the barrel and the firing mechanism.

A federal judge won't block a Nevada law banning the manufacture and possession of so-called ghost guns that don’t have serial numbers, saying she doubts a lawsuit from gun rights advocates can succeed. Czech gunmaker CZ strutted one of the company's least-known models on social media this week, the rare but very satisfying CZ-75 Automatic. The original CZ-75 pistol, designed in then-Czechoslovakia by the brothers Koucky in the 1970s, was and still is one of the most popular combat handguns of modern times. It served as the basis for a number of clones and half-brothers including Col. Jeff Cooper’s Bren 10, the BUL Cherokee, the IMI Jericho, the Tanfoglio TZ-75 series, and the short-lived Springfield Armory P9.

Airsoft, or pellet gun versions of real firearms that are licensed for manufacture by gun companies, are awesome for a lot of reasons. They’re a lot of fun to shoot. You can use them as training tools that offer better feedback than dry firing. What’s more, ammo is cheap, and you can get them shipped right to your door (in most states). The all-metal airsoft SIG Sauer Proforce MCX Virtus is an excellent example of one.
