Florida’s updated “Stand Your Ground” self-defense law is unconstitutional, a Miami judge ruled on Monday. Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Milton Hirsch ruled that lawmakers overstepped their authority in modifying the law this year to force prosecutors to disprove a defendant’s self-defense claim at a pre-trial hearing.

A Texas mother of six was attacked at her apartment complex, but said her car keys saved her life. Jessica Collins, 27, was grabbing a cellphone charger from her car around 2:30 a.m. Friday when a man punched her in the nose, according to KPRC. “Thankfully I had my keys in a defense position because I gave him a right hook and ended up getting him in the neck then he ran,” Collins wrote on Facebook. Collins told KPRC that she learned this defense tactic as a child after her mother saw it on a self-defense documentary.

There's a bellicose undertone in a lot of Leftist rhetoric these days. People who preach peace and tolerance, rainbows and unicorns, can switch to a very different wavelength the moment they start talking about conservatives.

China’s foreign ministry has expressed concern over a potential $1.42 billion sale of U.S.-made missiles, torpedoes and missile components as well as support services for various defense programs to Taiwan, DoD Buzz reported Friday. The report said the Chinese government called for the cancellation of the deal because it presents a challenge to the country’s security interests and does not align with the “One China” policy that it notes the U.S. has previously pledged to support.

No matter which side you're on, the Campus Carry law is now a reality on public college campuses in Georgia. "I'm not against it, but I'm also not for it," says Stefan Wilcox, a Valdosta State student. "It's the people who carry the guns, not the guns that kill people," says Christopher Feagin, another VSU student.

After years of anticipation, and a final round of heated debate in the state legislature, "No Guns" signs finally came down at Kansas college campuses Saturday. The state's new so-called "campus carry" law went into effect July 1. The law allows nearly anyone 21 years and older to carry a concealed gun into nearly any campus building, except for buildings with security measures like metal detectors in place. (This exception includes prominent venues like Allen Fieldhouse.)

German Reichmarschall Hermann Göring, as well as being Reichminister of Aviation, also possessed a bevy of other titles and honorariums—one of which was Reichminister of Forestry. He was also an avid hunter and firearm enthusiast, and this may explain why he provided selected aircrews in his beloved Luftwaffe with a “survival arm” that would have been the envy of the most sophisticated Teutonic sportsman.

I hate to admit it, but the talks of a so-called truce, or a toning down of the political rhetoric, by our members of Congress was crap. We all knew it. C’mon—you’ve had to see this lie coming a mile away. We have two separate parties that have deep, systemic divisions on how government should be run and it’s associated issues, free speech, gun rights, health care etc., so a truce on the rhetoric was never going to happen.

As national reciprocity legislation continues to gain momentum, it is predictably attracting opposition from groups such as the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) and Michael Bloomberg’s "Everytown." Meeting last week in Miami, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio put forward a resolution for the Conference of Mayors blasting national reciprocity for licensed gun owners. It said in part...

The 91st General Assembly passed a bill that allows employees to bring their concealed handguns to their employer’s private parking lot. That along with other legislation that made it out of the 2017 regular session caught the eye of attorney H. Wayne Young, a partner at Friday Eldredge & Clark and a member of its labor and employment law practice group. He recently sat down with Arkansas Business at the Little Rock firm’s office to discuss the new laws.

Several new gun laws took effect around the map on Saturday, and as the nation pauses to observe the 241st anniversary of its Declaration of Independence, it is a good time to reflect on why the Fourth of July is truly significant, not just to the nation, but to the world. It’s not just about hot dogs, barbecued ribs and chicken, soda and beer chilling in an ice-filled tub. It is about the freedom to enjoy such things, and about the liberty to speak one’s mind and conscience.

The sheriff's office report says on Sunday afternoon, the deputy was taking out his trash when he noticed the passenger side door not latched and the trunk open. Chicago, I'm told, has a morality problem. That's what White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the other day when asked if violence in our city is related to easy access to guns. "I think that the problem there is pretty clear that it's a crime problem," she said. "I think crime is probably driven more by morality than anything else."
