"Gun violence has become an alarming problem throughout this country, and members of the Joliet Police Department are committed to eliminating weapons from the streets of our city," Gerdes said.

Joliet has now disposed of more than 3,400 weapons since 1989, said Cmdr. James Grace. Handguns accounted for more than 2,600 of those weapons, he said.

Miskovich claims officers pointed guns at her, held her on the floor, stepped on her back and refused to identify themselves during the raid.

The public agencies were conducting a joint training exercise at Grand Rapids High School...

Her attorney, John Undem, said Miskovich was so frightened during the incident that she prayed to God to let her quickly die.

" She thought she was going to be raped and killed, " Undem said. " This kid' s been hurt bad."

A guy in California is marketing kits to converty AR-15's to try to get around SB23.

The fact that people have to scurry around and behave as if they were criminals...simply for owning militia rifles...is starting to make me think American Revolution Version 2.0 is very, very close now.

Gore's new, muted approach to guns reflects a sensible awareness of political reality. The reality is based not just on what Gore's internal polls on guns must be showing; a realistic approach to gun politics must also take account of the history of one of the greatest Democratic debacles in presidential history the 1988 Dukakis campaign.

How they define "drug dealer" isn't mentioned, nor are many other details...but you can go see the text of the bill here:

By John R. Lott, Jr.

NO DOUBT gun control is a central issue in the presidential campaign. For a year now, Vice President Al Gore has painted Texas Gov. George Bush as an extremist, a pawn of the National Rifle Association who recklessly endangered people by signing a concealed handgun law.  QUOTES TO REMEMBER
As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms. Tench Coxe in `Remarks on the First Part of the Amendments to the Federal Constitution' under the Pseudonym "A Pennsylvanian" in the Philadelphia Federal Gazette, June 18, 1789 at 2 col. 1.
