A majority of Americans are happy or prospective gun owners who keep firearms around to protect themselves, Pew Research found in its latest poll. The poll, which surveyed 5,115 U.S. adults in June, found that, contrary to Democrats’ anti-gun rhetoric, Americans across all demographics enjoy exercising their Second Amendment rights by personally owning guns or living with someone who does.

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms joined in an amicus brief to the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals supporting a lawsuit against Montgomery County, Maryland, challenging county “sensitive places” designations.

Joining CCRKBA are the California Rifle and Pistol Association, Second Amendment Law Center, Second Amendment Defense and Education Coalition, Guns Save Life, Federal Firearms Licensees of Illinois, Gun Owners of America, Gun Owners of California, and the Gun Owners Foundation.

The Omaha City Council voted Tuesday to repeal city code related to gun permits. The action comes after the Nebraska legislature changed the concealed carry law. Councilmembers voted to repeal the codes in order to be in compliance with new state law. But some did so begrudgingly, caught voting between a rock and a hard place.

A New York lawmaker is urging the state's Governor to take a second look at a looming mandatory background check law for ammunition transfers. State Sen. George Borrello (R) has penned Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) over concerns about how NY Executive Law 228 will be implemented. The measure, which among other things creates a duplicative office run by the NY State Police to function as a go-between, transferring mandatory background checks from registered firearm dealers to the federal NICS program on the dealer’s behalf, also extends to ammunition.

The image, taken by the Fulton County, Georgia Sheriff’s Department has gone viral, and according to published reports, has raised at least $7.1 million for the former president’s re-election campaign. A Jackson man was shot in the neck Monday morning while he was allegedly trying to break into his neighbor’s home after she yelled at him. Police were called at about 7 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, to a townhouse in the 1200 block of Heather Drive for report of man with a knife smashing the windows of a woman’s home while apparently trying to get inside, according to the Jackson Police Department.

On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, Gabriel Cowan Metcalf was arrested at his home. Federal agents of the ATF arrested Metcalf for possessing a firearm in a federal Gun Free School Zone in Billings, Montana. Gabriel Metcalf had a Rossi single-shot break action 20 gauge shotgun in a scabbard on his lawn mower. A search warrant was executed during the arrest. The warrant shows the agents also seized six rounds of ammunition and a Samsung phone.
