... by which I mean anti-gun organizations pretending to be pro-gun organizations. In this case I'm talking specifically about www.huntersandshooters.com. They've got a nice website that quotes from the 2nd Amendment and claims to favor 'protecting our homes, preserving our liberties, hunting, and sport shooting'. But when you start to dig a little deeper, it seems they are all about regulation.

"Kalifornia's S.357 calls for the semi-automatic handguns, such as those worn by police officers and owned by millions of law-abiding givers in society, to be designated as 'unsafe' by the year 2009 if their ammunition is not stamped with a serial number 'as they fire', which weapon must be in compliance by Jan 1st, '09. For the millions of weapons already in the hands of law-abiding, I don’t know how those owners will comply."

The ban goes into effect on August 11, and city residents have 90 days from that date to register or dispose of their firearms that meet the city's definition of an assault weapon."

Even the assistant city attorney who worked on the language for City Council, Josh Cox, admitted to the Columbus Dispatch in a story a few weeks ago that the ordinance will have no effect on criminals. One lawsuit already has been filed on this issue, and others are expected." ...

FULL TEXT BELOW:

Christchurch police have destroyed up to 600 plastic air pistols and BB guns being sold for just a few dollars in local dairies, and often to children.

The guns were retailing for between $7.95 and $12.95 and police say the importer did not have a licence to sell firearms.

Sergeant Roger Hutton says the guns are not toys and can be very dangerous to anyone, but particularly children. He is worried there may be more guns out in the community which were sold before police were aware of the problem.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by one enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom. — JOHN QUINCY ADAMS (1821)
