"The ACLU frequently backs itself up as being in favor of the Constitution. If one frequents an urban center, fundraisers for the ACLU can be located with pins that say 'I'm A Constitution Voter.'"

"Despite their fervent claimed support for the Constitution, however, the ACLU stands in direct support against the Second Amendment:" ...

"There is a paradox deep in the constitutional anti-gun position. A people’s militia, of the Switzerland variety, is not one in which large stocks of munitions are held in government custody to be used by hired contractors. Today the anti-gun org has come out punching, accusing the Prez of cowering in fear of the 'gun lobby.' Writing for The Huffington Post, Brady Veep Dennis A. Hennigan claims 'It is now beyond doubt that the Administration is determined to say as little as possible about the plague of gun violence that inflicts death and injury on 300 Americans every day. When forced to comment on proposals to strengthen our anemic federal gun laws, the President and his representatives typically fall back on the gun lobby's canard, 'We don’t need new gun laws. What do gun-rights decisions mean?

"The Supreme Court in the last year handed down two decisions concerning the Second Amendment to the Constitution, which reads as follows: 'A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.' Before these two decisions the court had only ruled once on the Second Amendment. That was in 1939 in the case of United States v. Miller, which upheld a law requiring sawed-off shotguns, a favorite weapon of gangsters, to be registered. So one might ask why after some 70 years do we see the court asked to interpret the Second Amendment. After all, guns are everywhere, as are regulations affecting ownership." ...

Without the Second Amendment, all others would fall in short order. Our very freedom was won by force of arms in the hands of the citizenry. The very first shots fired at Lexington and Concord was over gun control/prohibition. Guns are used for political change. A gun in the hands of the citizens keeps us from becoming just another Third World dictatorship." ...

"With states rolling back the regs re: concealed carry permits, mouse guns chambered in .380 ACP are all the rage. But what of the 'lowly' .32, used by such CCW stalwarts as the Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless, CZ-50, Walther PPK and Kel-Tec P-32? CORBON is doing their bit to keep the caliber hip and happening with its new 32 auto DPX ammo. The 'environmentally friendly' load launches a 60 grain solid copper hollow point bullet at 1050 feet per second. ... "The Second Amendment doesn't mention 'gun,' but does reference 'arms,' which are defined as any instrument used for fighting. A literal interpretation of the Second Amendment would, according to Quillen, allow anyone to own any 'arm.' That would include thermonuclear weapons, Hellfire missiles and flamethrowers. Playing with those could certainly make for an interesting Fourth of July party." ...

"The number of people with active Utah permits to carry concealed weapons is exploding like a percussion cap. As of Aug. 1, that number is 255,079, and many of those folks, 123,560, are not Utahns."

"A quarter-million people is a staggering number. But beyond that, it raises again the question of why Utah would voluntarily act as a national supermarket for issuing and policing these permits." ...

Submitter's Note: I would be curious to find out how many of those 123,560 people already have a permit from their home state, and just get a Utah permit for convenience. Oh, and at $65.25 a pop, those 123,560 folks have brought in over eight million bucks to the state, plus a quarter million every year in renewals.
