UK: Police Force questions all offenders in area

No Constitutional rights = no necessity for probable cause. Welcome to the UK Police State! "A Chief Constable has ordered ... every known criminal ... be questioned by Police (who have) seized firearms, drugs, and property worth an estimated 100,00 pounds Sterling".

Will this be the method used against U.S. gunowners one day when they declare us "criminals" for simple possession of firearms?

Federal fugitive, Sheriff's Deputy killed in SWAT standoff

The fugitive,(an ex-Cop) was being sought for impersonating a U.S. Marshal and being a felon in possession of a firearm. It turned into a bloody barricade confrontation gunbattle with Sheriffs Deputies, BATF & Marshals (who said the suspect was "stockpiling weapons")...

Another KABA reader summarized: The ATF attempted to serve a search warrant, ended up in a gunfight. Sadly, a Sheriff's deputy was killed. Once the suspect had baracaded himself inside a house, they threw in tear gas, and the house burned down. Firefighters stayed back, fearing they would be shot.

Question: Why would a guy vomiting from the tear gas shoot people trying to douse the fire burning in his building???? --BobL

Drugstore owner pulls gun on would-be robber

The man entered the store shortly before 11am and handed the owner a note that read: "1 liquid bottle of morphine or everyone gets the sever consequnice!" [sic]

Seeing that the man had no visible weapon, the owner grabbed his own gun. He showed it to the suspect and convinced him to sit on the floor until police arrived.

A police warrant indicates that James is either an employee or student at UNCA. He is being held at the Buncombe County jail on $5,000 bond.

~Aside from being a poor excuse for a robber, it seems this college student or employee can't even spell "severe consequences."

"Recent years have seen an increasing number of police officers injured in the line of duty. The nation's police apparently remain unprepared for the changing times with the accompanying rapid growth in the incidence of violent crimes. Steps must be taken to ensure that police continue to be seen as reliable guardians of the public peace."

...and I thought Japan was supposed to be so "peaceful", with their strict "gun control" and all...

A coalition of doctors supporting gun ownership is blasting a Johns Hopkins study that concludes that the licensing and registration of firearms makes it harder for criminals and juveniles to get guns.

Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership (DRGO), a nationwide network of more than 1,000 physicians and other health professionals who support the safe and lawful use of firearms, a project of the Claremont Institute, says the study doesn't add up. ~~ Melanie Hunter, CNSNews.com via NewsMax

It should come as no surprise to most readers that "objective" government studies are often anything but. In fact, the game is an old one: If you put the right people on a panel, and ask them the right questions, you can pretty well be assured of getting the answers you want. That appears to be what is going on with a Clinton administration-inspired National Academy of Sciences study bearing the innocuous title of "Improving Research Information and Data on Firearms" --Dave Kopel

Has The Bill of Rights Become Irrelevant?

Would it be fair to say that the Bill of Rights has been incrementally ignored to such an extent over the years that it is now virtually irrelevant? If not irrelevant, what then do you call it when the very foundation of our country--its most fundamental principles of human rights and freedom--are selectively ignored with impunity by the governing body it was designed to rein in and a growing number of citizens don't realize it or care? -- Colonel Dan

Slick Willy's parting present to Second Amendment rights - a panel, obviously stacked with gun control advocates, will likely try to find alleged "data" (read: excuses) to support relieving Americans of their right to keep and bear arms.

A more hopeful - if perhaps naive - take on the "gun data" committee by Sam MacDonald:

"Let’s hope the numbers they cook are fair -- two years from now they will be the only numbers anyone has. Remember, we got thousands of laws when there weren’t any numbers at all."

~I may have missing something - when did Rights become dependent on statistics?

KABA NOTE: They haven't.
