A federal judge issued a temporary restraining order Tuesday blocking a Colorado county from banning the sale and manufacturing of certain semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity magazines.
U.S. District Court Judge Charlotte Sweeney issued the order against Boulder County, ruling in favor of plaintiffs Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, the National Association for Gun Rights and resident Martin Carter Kehoe. |

An altercation in Stafford forced an auto shop employee to shoot a man in self defense, police said.
On August 30, at around 11:45 a.m., an officer, who was driving near Tires and Wheels Unlimited on Warrenton Road, saw a man bleeding from his abdomen coming toward her, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.
Timothy Greenage, 33, told the officer that an employee of the auto shop had shot him, but there was more to the story, officials said. |

The new policy only requires proof of moral character—which is done through a series of thorough criminal background checks, interviews, trainings, psychological testing, and three letters vouching for the person’s character, Lompoc Police Lt. Allen Chisholm said.
“The good moral character clause is not new, the only thing removed from the statute was the cause section. The Lompoc Police Department changing their policy is not just specific to Lompoc, [but] every city and county agency is going to be changing their policies as well,” Chisholm said. |

The National Rifle Association is pointing to a Texas case to try to bolster its constitutional challenge to a 2018 Florida law that prevents people under age 21 from buying guns.
An attorney for the NRA filed documents Monday at the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals after a federal judge last week issued an injunction against a Texas law that bars people under 21 from carrying handguns outside their homes for self-defense.
While the details of the Florida and Texas laws are different, the NRA contends that they involve similar underlying issues about gun restrictions on young adults. |

I’m an unrepentant fan of the 1911 and always will be. That said, I don’t actually carry one for self-defense. As shootable as the design can be, its size, weight and lack of capacity render it close to obsolescence for real-world use. The fact is that the polymer-framed, high-capacity Glock and its offshoots killed John Browning’s design as the defensive handgun.
But what if a 1911 made sexy-time with a Glock 17 and didn’t pull out? If one could combine the unsurpassed shooting characteristics of John Browning’s masterpiece with the capacity of a modern handgun, they’d really have something. |

In other words, concealed carry is now CRIMINAL unless a sign is clearly posted saying that it is allowed.
Most wont care much about the new law until they realize that it requires store owners who have concealed carry permits (for good reason), to post a sign outside their store saying that they are armed! This is terribly unsafe as all a criminal will have to do is look for a sign, and if there isn’t one there, he knows that he can rob the store with impunity.

Some claim the purpose is to demonize Texas and stop the rampant flow of productive people and assets from California to Texas. Tesla and Oracle are two recent examples. People who find freedom attractive might decide the billboard sends them a message of freedom. Others claim the purpose is to keep people who favor gun control from moving to Texas. People who had guns might be deterred from moving to Texas. |

“Police at first thanked Mr. Muldrow for his help, but when the officer in charge arrived and took control of the investigation, the subordinate police were commanded to investigate the lawfulness of Mr. Muldrow’s sidearm in Maryland,” said the release. “They learned he had a concealed carry permit in Virginia, and that he held a job providing security to federal facilities that required him to be armed, but they also learned that he was not specifically permitted to carry in Maryland.”
He was then arrested for possession of a gun within 100 feet of a public building and carrying a concealed weapon, despite the fact that police had just praised him for taking down Henderson while Henderson attacked Collins. |

The Empire State has made it harder than ever to legally carry a gun.
On Wednesday, Governor Kathy Hochul (D.) signed a series of new restrictions on where licensed carriers can take their guns and who can get a license in the first place. She painted the new measures as a direct response to the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling in New York State Pistol and Rifle Association v. Bruen, which struck down a key provision of the state’s previous law. |

A man who shot and killed an attempted intruder on July 31 will not face criminal charges in the state of Ohio.
James Rayl, 22, approached the man's house, at first ringing the doorbell. Rayl was the ex-boyfriend of the man's daughter, who'd reportedly broken up with him 18 months prior. Voices can be heard telling Rayl that his ex-girlfriend did not want to see or talk to him. |

It took an armed citizen to stop a man that was randomly shooting people in Detroit that spanned over two hours.
This past Sunday, a 19-year-old man started randomly shooting people. He shot and killed three people, including a 28-year-old and a 43-year-old.
The shooter then shot a 4th person, who was an 80-year-old man walking his dog. A neighbor witnessed the incident, grabbed his gun, and fired back at the suspect. |

Detailed, official information has surfaced about the defensive use of a pistol failure involving a .22 pistol and a polar bear in the Svalbard archipelago of Norway.
One of the three documented cases where a pistol was fired to defend from a bear and failed was the sad tale of crew passengers from the tour/expedition ship Origo in the summer of 1995. The event, as related in a travel guide, was documented on AmmoLand. There were several other sources that corroborated the event; the details were from the travel guide. |

I am delighted to announce the publication of the free, online 2022 Supplement for the law school textbook Firearms Law and the Second Amendment: Regulation, Rights, and Policy (Third Edition). My coauthors on the Supplement and the third edition of the textbook are Nicholas J. Johnson, George A. Mocsary, E. Gregory Wallace, and Donald Kilmer.
The Supplement is 175 pages, and covers developments since the summer of 2021, when the textbook entered final production. The Supplement begins with 98 pages on the Supreme Court's June 2022 decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen. Most of that material is the Bruen opinion, plus the three concurrences, and the dissent, all in full. |

If we are a compassionate society that values human life above all else, it should be a national priority to do all we can to stop or limit the carnage. That must include federal legislation limiting access to assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines. Such legislation can and must protect and preserve the historical and cultural sanctity of private gun ownership guaranteed by the Second Amendment. |

Although the law no longer requires one demonstrate that they have a proper cause to carry a firearm, it certainly did not make it any easier to get a license. Applicants must first take a 16-hour training class, including a two-hour live-fire session. Then they must have an in-person interview with a licensing officer where they must disclose several types of personal information, including all of their social media accounts. The officer then reviews that information to determine if the applicant has “good moral character,” which is even more subjective than the unconstitutional “proper cause” standard. The licensing officer then has up to six months—unless they want more time, which they will be granted indefinitely... |

"Shall not be infringed." The Founding Fathers never talked about "guns," they talked about "arms." Arms are implements for the defense of liberty. National armies do not defend individual "liberty." In America, citizens do. Armies defend borders. Our Founding Fathers also did not believe in standing armies. So how could they have intended the Second Amendment to be for "militias" or "armies?"
Globally, possessing "arms" is a unique right belonging only to Americans. In banning them we will only admit to lacking the maturity, as a people, to own them. |

President Joe Biden is at it again. He’s throwing out wild and unfounded lies to scare Americans into supporting his push for an unconstitutional ban on Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs). If that’s not outlandish enough, he continues to antagonize and threaten war against American citizens simply for exercising their Constitutionally-protected rights.
As the president likes to say, “I’m not joking.”
His latest claim was yet another attempt to malign and villainize MSRs.

The fallout from the U.S. Supreme Court's recent rollback of gun safety regulations continued through Colorado on Tuesday, as a federal judge temporarily blocked Boulder County from enforcing its prohibitions on large-capacity magazines and "assault weapons."
U.S. District Court Judge Charlotte N. Sweeney issued a 14-day temporary restraining order against a county ordinance that forbids the sale, purchase or transfer of gun magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition, plus semiautomatic firearms the county has deemed assault weapons. |

A federal judge let the new rules go forward Wednesday evening, hours before they were to take effect. Despite writing that the arguments for granting a preliminary injunction to stop the rules were persuasive, Judge Glenn Suddaby said the plaintiffs — an upstate New York resident and three gun rights organizations — didn't have standing to bring the legal action. Suddaby said he came to that decision partly because the man, a legal gun owner, couldn't demonstrate he was at risk of a credible threat of prosecution under the new guidelines, among other factors. |

Defense Distributed, a Texas nonprofit business that sells the "Ghost Gunner" milling machine, said in a complaint filed Wednesday in Los Angeles that the restrictions on its products violate the Second Amendment, which according to the company implicitly includes the right to acquire and manufacture firearms.
The business, backed by the Second Amendment Foundation, also claims that a provision in one of the new California laws, SB 1327, which was modeled on Texas's controversial abortion law and which makes a plaintiff liable for the state's legal costs in defending an unsuccessful challenge to its gun laws, violates the First Amendment. |

During a firearms class, you’ll perform numerous repetitions of the material being presented, but the bulk of the learning process begins after class.
