On Wednesday, Manstrom and Kemp helped deliver 2,000 signatures to Oregon’s elections office as part of an effort to get a measure on the 2020 ballot that would create the stiffest law in America requiring the safe storage of firearms.

The initiative would require guns to be secured with a trigger or cable lock, or in a locked container. It also mandates that a lost or stolen firearm be reported within 24 hours and makes violators of the measure liable for any injury from an unsecured weapon, except in matters of self-defense or defense of another person.

A common trait of most mass shooters is that they served in the military, had been rejected to serve or came from a military family. In an essay, “Wars and Domestic Massacres,” Libertarian Lew Rockwell makes the compelling argument that our foreign policy of unending global conflict that is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of individuals in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, promotes a “culture of violence” in America that cannot be dismissed.

As interest continues to grow in the 10 mm Auto as a hunting and self-defense round, so, too, do the handgun options for this fine cartridge. Recently, Springfield Armory added to the available 10 mm Auto pistols with the XD-M OSP. Polymer-framed, the XD-M OSP holds a hefty 15+1 rounds of 10 mm Auto, is very accurate and reflects another trend in current pistol manufacture: It’s an “optics-ready” model.

“This missive is a non-starter with the NRA and our 5 million members because it burdens law-abiding gun owners while ignoring what actually matters: fixing the broken mental health system and the prosecution of violent criminals,” Jason Ouimet, the executive director of the NRA’s activist arm, the Institute for Legislative Action, said, according to Politico.

The “missive” is a draft of a gun background check proposal the White House has begun circulating among lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

A Rockdale County man may have had the right to shoot and kill three teenagers during an alleged robbery attempt, according to a Georgia State University professor.

The “stand your ground” law allows for a person to use deadly force if they feel their life or someone else’s life or their property is in danger, said Russell Covey, a law professor. “What the stand your ground laws do is say you don’t have to retreat,” Covey told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said no charges will be filed against two men who showed up at a Statesville emergency room over the weekend with gunshot wounds.

The office investigated a link between the men and a man found dead of a gunshot wound in Woodleaf Sunday morning. While the connection has been made between the two incidents, the Rowan County District Attorney’s Office has determined no charges will be filed against the two men after an investigation revealed the men fired shots in self-defense.

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) blasted gun control legislation from Democrats as he advocated instead focusing on shoring up the existing background check system.

Scalise, at a press conference held along with conservative group Tea Party Patriots on Wednesday, said Congress needs to focus on ensuring the current system is working efficiently before implementing new laws.

His comments come as Senate Republicans have held up legislation on guns, including background checks, as they wait for President Trump to say which measures he would support, if any.

Clark county Commissioner Justin Jones said he wants to expand the areas where activities like target shooting are prohibited.

The proposal would amend a county code that governs the unsafe discharge of firearms. The proposed change would include the Apex area, Mountain's Edge and Lovell Canyon.

As it stands, all cities in Clark County prohibit target shooting unless on an established range.

Companies are using Instagram to market knives covertly disguised as lipsticks, hair combs, and lighters.

London-based radio station LBC reported on Tuesday it had successfully ordered disguised knives from US retailers, passing undetected through British customs, amid a knife-crime crisis in London.

That manufacturers are using Instagram to market the knives was first reported by The Daily Telegraph in January 2018. The practice appears to continue unabated 18 months on.

A $2.7 million lawsuit between a Keizer family whose home was struck by a stray bullet and a Polk County rock quarry owner who allowed shooting on his land ended with the quarry owner being ordered to limit shooting on his property.

Owner Lance Davis Jr. was directed that the "shooting of firearms, except in self-defense, shall be limited only to shotguns," according to a judgment reached this month in Marion County Circuit Court.

O'Rourke's stance on guns purely tyrannical

“Tyrant” is the appropriate word to describe someone who would suppress our constitutional rights, not to mention our natural or God-given right of self-defense if an individual or one’s family is at risk.

Beto brings to mind another tyrant, George III of England, whose abuse of the American colonies led to the American Revolution and ultimately our nation’s independence. It is noteworthy that the spark that ignited the conflict was the effort by British troops to confiscate firearms at Concord, Mass.

I today appeared on Fox & Friends urging Congress and President Trump to reject Democrats' gun control agenda and instead take up and pass Grassley-Cruz, bipartisan legislation to prevent mass shootings and protect people's lives as well as their constitutional and God-given right to self-defense.

When Americans talk about guns, what's arguably most interesting isn't what we say about the devices themselves. It's what we betray about whose voices -- and lives -- matter when it comes to our country's virulent gun culture.

Some time ago a friend made a similar statement, and when I asked a couple of questions to try to understand her position, I quickly found out that she didn’t know that automatic weapons (i.e., machine guns) are already essentially illegal.

When I mentioned semi-automatic weapons, she asked me, “What does semi-automatic mean?”

Gun control will be a litmus test for RINOs to primary in 2020

We will be watching very closely at how Republican politicians discuss and vote in regards to gun control measures. It’s a litmus test; either they are willing to defend the 2nd Amendment or they are betraying their oath to protect the Constitution.

As the American Conservative Movement inches closer to officially launching, we will use this litmus test and a feasibility analysis to determine which RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) are poised for a Constitutional conservative challenger in their next election. We must be pragmatic about this. There’s no reason to invest in primary battles that have no chance. But if a lawmaker favors gun control and is vulnerable, we will go on the attack.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Foolish liberals who are trying to read the Second Amendment out of the Constitution by claiming it's not an individual right or that it's too much of a public safety hazard don't see the danger in the big picture. They're courting disaster by encouraging others to use the same means to eliminate portions of the constitution they don't like. — Alan Dershowitz
