"The Second Amendment Foundation today thanked the National Rifle Association and California Rifle and Pistol Foundation for filing amicus briefs in SAF’s challenge of Yolo County, California’s policies that exploit the state’s regulations on the issuance of concealed firearms carry permits."

"Joining SAF in that lawsuit is the CalGuns Foundation. The case is known as Richards v. Prieto. It targets Yolo County’s arbitrary policy that requires CCW applicants to provide good cause for obtaining a permit, and subjects each applicant to a 'moral character' standard." ...

"Some paranoia is justified. Are American gun owners paranoid? Yes. Is someone out to get them? Yes. Personal liberty and guns go hand in hand. I know that a lot of people will disagree with this, but look at the world around you. We are the freest country in the world and the most armed."

"The government tells us that more guns cause more crime. The facts are just the opposite. When Kennesaw, Ga., in 1982 passed a law requiring the head of each household to own at least one firearm, crime plummeted 74 percent, according to www.ecclesia.org. " ...

"Hindsight runs 20:20 in my family. My grandfather played first trumpet with a bandleader in the early part of the 20th Century. Had the opportunity to tour with him. My grandmother talked him out of it. So John Phillip Sousa went on to fame and fortune without him. My dad? He was offered 10% of a company that was going to put a Geiger Counter in a plane and criss-cross the continental US to look for uranium. The buy-in was all the money my folks had saved. They passed. The guys found the largest uranium deposits in the USA. So I’ve learned – the hard way – that my foresight is not the most reliable thing in the world. Which is why you’d think I’d be just this side of militant about carrying concealed. You’d think…" ...

"In many ways, a .22lr bolt action rifle is the perfect firearm. Ammunition is cheap and plentiful, recoil is almost nonexistent, and the gun is inexpensive enough that any mistakes in care and maintenance are easily forgiven. It’s perfect for new owners, occasional shooters, and even those of us who are on a first name basis with the RSO at every local range but want to save some money. One of the finest examples of a bolt action .22lr rifle I’ve ever fired is the Zastava MP 22 R, also produced for a time by Remington in the United States as the Model Five." ...

One of our crew shot for our school’s rifle team; he busted clays with a gorgeous Beretta 686 Onyx. While he was generous with his trigger time, pride (and greed) demanded that I buy my own shotgun. Uncle Sam’s tax refund check (a.k.a., my federally-funded contribution to the firearms industry) hadn’t been quite as healthy as usual; I was strapped for cash. So I sought alternative solutions.  QUOTES TO REMEMBER
If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government that is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. — JAMES MADISON
