WY: Events center design advances for state shooting complex

The Wyoming State Shooting Complex events center is slated to include not just a general retail space for the complex, but a separate Civilian Marksmanship Program retail space, the first of its kind in the Western United States.
It will include a display of many historic firearms.
It’s an auspicious time for that space, as CMP recently announced it will be selling its extensive stockpile of M-14 rifles — once they’re adjusted to be legal for the civilian market.
“That will be a significant draw,” Wyoming State Shooting Complex CEO Patrick Giles said.

Several years ago, during an early fall black powder elk hunt, I was relaxing in my solo camp somewhere west of civilization in Washington’s northern Yakima County, pretty much right along the county line with neighboring Kittitas County, when a carload of interesting folks sort of slowly rolled up. |

An Eagle County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot and killed a bear at an apartment complex in Avon, Colorado. ECSO released body cam footage Tuesday of a bear encounter at an apartment complex in Avon that occurred on Aug. 24. A crowd had gathered, and deputies dispersed the onlookers for their safety. Deputies then attempted to haze the bear — a strategy used to make bears fear humans and move on. |

Even though they share similar names, the 38 Super and 38 Special are distinct cartridges with vastly different pressures, use cases, and firearm designs.
The 38 Super is a higher-pressure, semi-automatic pistol cartridge (commonly used in 1911s) built for speed and competition shooting. The 38 Special is a lower-pressure, rimmed revolver cartridge popular for target shooting, and back in the day it was more common for concealed carry (some might consider it outdated). |
