Is it forward thinking, or simply jumping the gun?
With some gun buyers fearing a return to 1990s Clinton-era firearm regulations, several gun shops in Lee and Collier counties are reporting increased sales in the wake of Barack Obama’s election as the 44th president of the United States.
Obama’s running mate, Joe Biden, played a critical role in the passage of the Brady Bill in 1993, legislation that mandated a five-day waiting period before the purchase of a handgun. Biden also helped craft the Crime Bill of 1994, which included a 10-year federal ban on 19 types of military-style assault weapons. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands? — Patrick Henry, 3 J. Elliot, Debates in the Several State Conventions 45, 2d ed. Philadelphia, 1836 |
