i wanted a 50-70 rifle also. couldnt afford one so i used my NEF 1871 500 SW mag rifle. i measured the case and it is 1/8 inch shorter. sounds do-able. then i designed my own bullet which weighs 500 grs. loading 65 grs goex BP was easy. shooting it is very satisfying. runs about 1200 fps. it's fun to shoot for sure. works out to be a 50-65, close enough for me. QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of. Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. — James Madison, The Federalist Papers, No. 46 |
