More than 260 firearms have been handed into Notts police since the gun amnesty started three weeks ago.
Officers say they include rifles, handguns and shotguns, as well as imitation weapons and 24 banned guns. Almost 10,000 rounds of ammunition have also been surrendered.
It is the first national gun amnesty since the Dunblane tragedy in June, 1996.
Superintendent Richard Johnson, of Notts police, said: "You may never get the hardened criminal element to hand over their weapons in the city but these guns are now out of circulation."
