"A Trumbull County deputy sheriff has been suspended without pay for 60 days for failing to notice that a suspect in the rear of his cruiser was holding a gun in his mouth and repeatedly trying to kill himself."
"The suspension will begin Monday for Sgt. Don Hyde, Sheriff Thomas Altiere said. During a brief meeting Tuesday, Altiere found Hyde guilty of violating the department's rules to properly secure and observe a prisoner. Hyde will also have to take training courses when he returns from the suspension, the sheriff said."
"The charges stem from the Dec. 8 attempted suicide of Kevin Spina, 22, of Niles. Spina shot himself while handcuffed and sitting in the back seat of Hyde's cruiser." ... |
