This is what guns are not:
In the hands of civilians, they are not protection from crime. Unless you wear a uniform with a badge or a service patch on it, the gun you carry is more likely to kill you or someone you know or love than it is to kill anyone who threatens you or your loved ones. The “good guy with a gun” who will protect us, rather than threaten us, is the man or woman who has been screened, trained, authorized and empowered by us to do the job. Anyone else, no matter how well-intentioned, is an amateur at best and a hazard to the rest of us at worst. |

Most CCW people I know carry because they envision themselves pseudo-policemen, they carry to protect themselves & family.
And there are between 500,000 and 1,000,0000 cases where honest people do EXACTLY that, with guns, each year.
So the idea of the CCWer being more of a danger to average people is a LIE. |

One of the facts that these morons don't get is that the prevalence of gun owners protects everyone.
The criminals don't fear the police or the courts. The likelihood of getting caught is low to begin with, and even if caught the miscreant will get a slap on the wrist, probation, or a short stay in jail followed by barely supervised probation.
Ask any criminal and the biggest thing that they fear is an armed victim. Law abiding citizens with guns prevent untold crime. The liberals just won't admit that. |
