Those of us who are not gun fetishists are supposed to "keep our powder dry" on the subject, but it must be said: The Second Amendment is as antique as a muzzle-loaded long gun, and should be treated as a historical artifact. We're not supposed to even whisper such things because the NRA and right-wing extremists have sensible Americans — including many gun owners — so bullied and cowed that we feel we are only allowed to hope for sensible gun-safety legislation around the edges of their highly profitable assault on American lives. |

Yes, the 2A is a ludicrous historical antique, as we are told by people who think that individual liberty and inalienable rights are ludicrous historical antiques too.
"the NRA and right-wing extremists have sensible Americans — including many gun owners — so bullied and cowed..."
Heh, no. That is so far off... if anything, "many gun owners" bully the NRA for being too willing to compromise and accept gun control. The NRA isn't bullying anyone. The NRA's only power is in motivating "many gun owners" to vote.
"Right wing extremists" are just regular people who know what a man is and who understand what our founders understood, that government will take and take when it comes to liberty if we let it. JFK would be one if he was alive now. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Let us contemplate our forefathers, and posterity, and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. The necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance. Let us remember that `if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.' It is a very serious consideration...that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event." --Samuel Adams, speech in Boston, 1771 |
