A chapter of the Pink Pistols LGBT advocacy group—opened in Orlando in the wake of last year’s mass-shooting at the Pulse nightclub—has been particularly active of late.
On the face of it, there’s nothing unusual about an organization dedicated to the opposition of hate crimes against the gay community opening up shop in the seat of Orange County.
The approach taken by the Pink Pistols, however, is somewhat unorthodox.
“I pray I never need to use [my gun] but I do have that knowledge if I do need to,” said Jo Martin, founder of the pistol-packing Orlando chapter, “and that’s one of the reasons I am involved in Pink Pistols; because we want to share that knowledge so that other people have that level of confidence as well.” |

One of many good reasons to take up arms. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero (42B.C) |
