Another absurd piece of "feel good" legislation rightfully discarded. There's literally millions of antique objects out there where ivory is either a key component or an embellishment. Are we to suddenly destroy cherished family heirlooms, unique antiques, or historical items (including firearms) for a bit of ivory from an animal decades/centuries dead ?
Yes, you A-R types, prohibit (if you can ) trade in poached ivory. But your "universal ban" won't work. It renders the whole animal worthless -except for contraband. OTOH controlled game control values the entire animal contributing to the local population its protein and bone and the licensee the inedible trophy. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so. Indeed I would go so far as to say that the underdog is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or police. German troops alone will bear the sole responsibility for the maintenance of law and order. — Adolf Hitler, April 11, 1942.
