The carnage in Orlando last week left Americans feeling helpless. And so it makes sense that many took heart in Congressional Democrats’ push for gun control legislation. In light of shooter Omar Mateen’s potential ties to terrorism, politicians jumped on a loophole that allows Americans on terrorist watch lists to buy guns. Connecticut senator Chris Murphy spent 14 hours leading a filibuster calling for an end to this loophole on June 15. When the Senate failed to pass any laws that might address the problem, House Democrats staged an old-school sit-in for 26 more hours. It was all very dramatic.

" ... politicians jumped on a loophole that allows Americans on terrorist watch lists to buy guns."
Omar Mateen was NOT on a watch list when he bought the Sig MCX. He'd been on one but had been taken off. No wonder this country is so f****d up; no one gives a hoot about facts. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
For, in principle, there is no difference between a law prohibiting the wearing of concealed arms, and a law forbidding the wearing such as are exposed; and if the former be unconstitutional, the latter must be so likewise. But it should not be forgotten, that it is not only a part of the right that is secured by the constitution; it is the right entire and complete, as it existed at the adoption of the constitution; and if any portion of that right be impaired, immaterial how small the part may be, and immaterial the order of time at which it be done, it is equally forbidden by the constitution.
