In Saturday's column, I asked candidates for local congressional seats to respond to this video created by some of the families of people who died at Pulse night club.
The families are calling for Congress to ban military-style assault weapons. I asked candidates in the following races whether they supported such a ban and why or why not. Here are their full, unedited responses. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks. — Thomas Jefferson, Encyclopedia of T. Jefferson, 318, Foley, Ed., reissued 1967. |
