An attempted robber has been shot and killed inside a restaurant in Highland Park early Thursday morning.
The incident happened at the Woodward Bistro on Woodward near Davison.
The man came inside the restaurant with the intent to rob the place, according to police.
A CPL holder inside the business at the time opened fire, killing the suspect. Police say the CPL holder was the business owner.
Police say a waitress inside the restaurant was wounded during the shooting. Originally, a Highland Park city official told 7 Action News the waitress was shot in the arm by the alleged gunman. Police later corrected the statement to say she was grazed by a bullet to her torso, and that an accidental shooting on the part of the bar owner. |

Now we'll hear how he was just getting his life together and didn't deserve this.
This is the only thing that reduces crime. These hoodlums don't have any fear of the police or the criminal justice system. Just imagine how many future crimes were just prevented. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of. Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. — James Madison, The Federalist Papers, No. 46 |
