From the article: "But these sheriffs point to Louisiana movie theater shooter John Houser. They say he was denied a permit in Alabama in 2006. However, Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor says Houser would have likely been given one under current gun laws."
He didn't have a permit. And he didn't need one to take a gun into a public venue and shoot people.
Gun restrictions only affect law abiding citizens. They have no impact on criminals.
These anti-gun sheriffs would be better advised to pay attention to the criminals that are already carrying guns illegally instead of lobbying against laws to remove restrictions on law abiding citizens.
It's LEOs like these that give a bad name to the rest of them. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
By calling attention to a well-regulated militia for the security of the Nation, and the right of each citizen to keep and bear arms, our Founding Fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny, which gave rise to the second amendment, will ever be a major danger to our Nation, the amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic military-civilian relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of the country. For that reason I believe the second amendment will always be important. --JOHN F. KENNEDY |
