I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT

by Ben Head

Well boys and girls, the time has come. The forces of common sense and political correctness have won the day.

I am now ready to surrender all my firearms, ammunition, reloading components and all accessories IMMEDIATELY to the proper authorities.

I will do this just as soon as any of the liberal anti-gun faction will agree to the following terms:

Provide for me and my family (wife) 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, armed bodyguard protection. That means at work, home, traveling, ALL THE TIME! No exceptions.

Lessee here… Let's figure $20 per hour for a trained and licensed bodyguard. Gonna need 3 of them (8-hour shifts) for me, and the same deal for my wife.

Now let's do the math: 365 days X 24 hours X $20 per hour = $175,200.00. $175,200 X 2 (two people to cover remember) = $350,400.00 per year.

Now let's just say we both live to be 80 years old. That's about 20 years, roughly seven MILLION dollars ($7,000,000) for 20 years.

On the other hand, let's assume we both have Texas CHLs (Concealed Handgun Licenses):

Two CHLs would be approximately $140 for four years; two handguns, approximately $600; and practice ammo for two people, approximately $40 per month. The cost for one year for two people comes to $480.

In addition, 12-gauge shotgun ($400) and practice ammo ($15 per month), would come to $180 for one year.

Total cost of ammo per year = $880. Cost of CHL per year = $70 (assuming we BOTH have our CHL). Cost of Firearms: $1,000, amortized over 20 years = $50 per year.

So the total cost of providing my wife and myself security for 1 year = $1,000.

The total cost for 20 years = $20,000. Plus, we both get a lot of fun out of enjoying a rewarding and safe hobby!!

Hmmm… 7 million vs. 20 grand. I wonder how many Hollywood liberals would like to subsidize every gun owner in America???
