H. R. 2459
"To Establish a Department of Peace"

from Stan Jordan
StanOrKellie@KeepAndBearArms.com

March 3, 2002

Please read the following House Bill that would create a department of peace. It's more like the Department of Gun Control and Hate Crimes etc....

Click here to read the bill.

KABA NOTE:  You'll find these quotes, extracted from the above-mentioned bill, of particular interest:

SEC. 102. RESPONSIBILITIES AND POWERS.

(b) Domestic Responsibilities.--The Secretary shall--

(5) analyze existing policies, employ successful, field-tested programs, and develop new approaches for dealing with the implements of violence, including gun-related violence and the overwhelming presence of handguns;  [emphasis ours]

A thinking person must wonder what these folks have in mind as "new approaches for dealing with...the overwhelming presence of handguns." Bans and sweeps, like Britain, have been discussed in wider circles these last few years. One of the G.O.P. contenders for the Governorship in California said he'd support sweeps, and he was endorsed by your President, George W. "I Won't Sign Campaign Finance Reform Incumbent Protection Legislation" Bush.

And while going after the Second Amendment, this same lot of legislative bumblers offers the following, further down in the bill:

(e) Media-Related Responsibilities.--Respecting the first amendment of the Constitution of the United States and the requirement for free and independent media, the Secretary shall--  [emphasis ours, to illustrate selective respect for the Bill of Rights]

Not surprisingly, these folks begin their proposal for a "Department of Peace" with quote from the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.
