Declaring that threats to the Second Amendment remain “formidable” as 2018 unfolds, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms has announced a list of legislative priorities that will keep the grassroots gun rights organization hopping well into the New Year.

Based in Bellevue, Washington – a “blue” state where the well-financed gun prohibition lobby in Seattle has been waging a war on rights guaranteed by both the Second Amendment and the state constitution – CCRKBA is a roll-up-your-sleeves group whose “boots on the ground” are activists across the map.

Updated: Will the liberal state and local politicians suddenly furious over the U.S. Justice Department’s reversal of an Obama administration hands-off policy toward marijuana use in several states be as defensive of pot smokers who want to exercise their Second Amendment rights?

The same politicians who seem to be rushing to defend recreational pot use almost invariably seem to support restrictive gun control laws. Federal law prohibits marijuana users from possessing firearms or ammunition. Politicians in several states where medical marijuana use has been legalized, along with those in places where recreational pot smoking has been okayed, may have a problem.

The NRA is not just about guns; it’s about our FREEDOM. As I watch some of our current political leaders and judges from both parties shred our constitution, I wonder how much longer we can survive as a nation. As Freedom’s Safest Place, the National Rifle Association will continue to play the leading role in expanding the Second Amendment. It is an honor to be nominated by the NRA Nominating Committee to serve on the Board of Directors.

Rubio’s words invoke much truth. One only has to look at the city of Chicago, which just released its homicide report for 2017, when 650 people were killed in that city, and already at least three people have been killed in the new year. In fact, Chicago homicides outnumber U.S. military casualties 18 to 1. This is a prime example of people who have no regard for gun laws, as the majority of the weapons recovered from these shootings were procured illegally.
