Authorities say seven people have been charged with firing a potato gun at the house of a former Lenoir County sheriff's detective.
Detectives say they believe the attack Sunday followed a series of pranks against off-duty sheriff's deputies the night before. Six officers reported that people kicked their front doors or made harassing phone calls to their homes.
Sheriff's department leaders say the harassment might have been in retaliation for an alcohol and drug checkpoint deputies set up Friday night outside a party at one suspect's house. |
