"The very foundations of the gun control movement were rocked today by the results of a survey taken by the National Association of Chiefs of Police (NACOP). In a nutshell, the survey shows that the nation's top law enforcement officers believe that average citizens can be trusted to responsibly own firearms; that criminals ignore gun control laws; and that concealed carry laws reduce crime."

"These revelations come as a stark contrast to gun control movement propaganda that asserts that police officials feel that our streets would be safer if law-abiding citizens were disarmed." ...

"We live in the heart of American gun country. A local farmhouse I have visited near here has a gun rack that would not disgrace a decent infantry battalion's guard room."

"In Houston British expatriates still speak of the drunken Scotsman coming back late one night over ten years ago in one of the smarter parts of town. When he knocked on some stranger's door at 3am, the homeowner shot and killed him believing his life to be in danger. The homeowner was within his legal rights and thus was not prosecuted."

"Gun ownership is possibly the issue that most perplexes foreigners about the United States. Even many of us who live here find it hard to fathom the almost fanatical obsession shown by some gun owners and their contempt for gun control." ...

"We live in a time in which our great nation remains divided on many different issues ... I do believe that there is a number one issue and that is the war on terrorism right now, but after that I believe that most issues have an equal representation of value to the average American voter."

"One issue that is seemingly not only going away, but getting worse is that the anti-gun crowd still want to ban our guns and diminish our Second Amendment rights. Left wing gurus like Michael Moore, George Soros, the ACLU, the UN, and liberal politicians like Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and several others are still trying to take away our rights as free law abiding citizens to own a firearm. The particular firearm of choice to ban is the handgun." ...

It is a good thing that Cheney wasn't using the Barretts sniper rifle, which fires .50-caliber armor piercing bullets and have a range of two miles. There would be not be enough left of his buddy to bury.

Because of the cowardice of this administration, which caved into the gun lobby, we have maniacs running around with military assault rifles, cop-killing automatic pistols and many more. How fast we forget Columbine, John and Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King and John Lennon.

I was a squad leader in the 2nd Armored Division during the Berlin and Czech riots. If one of my men had done what Cheney did, I would have him doing 50 push-ups with an ammo case on his back. That gets their attention very quickly.

On that date, the Ohio General Assembly passed a law that allows citizens to obtain a CHL (concealed handgun license). Safety-minded people were finally able to legally carry a handgun to protect themselves and their loved ones."

"The powers that be cut back the budget for the workers who process the applications. Predictably, a serious backlog has developed. But the law says that if the gun owner doesn't have that ID card as a firearm owner, he/she is guilty of a felony, even if he/she made every effort to comply with the law. So the police merely need to pick up the stacks of unprocessed paperwork on all of the unissued or unrenewed ID cards and the 'crime-fighting' statistics will look terrific. ..." ...
