Having finally acknowledged that "It's the right of every law-abiding American to own guns," Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy dropped her support for a three-day waiting period on gun show purchases.

"We would be delighted to sit down with Rep. McCarthy and craft responsible legislation that prevents criminals from buying guns, while at the same time protects the privacy rights of law-abiding gun owners," said Alan Gottlieb, chairman of CCRKBA.

"The government canceled all gun licenses issued since January and ordered the owners to surrender their weapons to authorities immediately."

"The move followed allegations made by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) that most of the licenses had been issued to activists from its main rival, the Awami League led by former prime minister Sheikh Hasina."

The Allegheny County Sportsmen's League says paying cash for tips on illegal gun possession doesn't target the real problem -- lenient judges -- and punishes lawful gun owners.

"The recent rise in homicides in Pittsburgh can be tracked directly to career criminals who are out of jail from previous crimes where the gun charges were dropped or plea-bargained away."

"Laws requiring the licensing and registration of firearms make it much tougher for criminals to get guns... Funded by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the study lends credence to advocacy groups who argue that tougher gun control cuts down on the supply of guns to criminals and forces them to rely on a black market of interstate trafficking from less heavily regulated states."

~Nothing like anti-freedom laws to create automatic criminals and that "black market".

5 month Op spent $83,150 on 107 guns w/1,100 rounds of ammo. All were "bought by relatives and friends" of 5 arrested, accused of selling at a Bronx housing project (Smells like a setup to me, but I could be wrong)...

KABA NOTE: We do not believe any law prohibiting people from selling guns to other lawful people is constitutional. And though this article suggests that the people selling and/or buying the guns are horrible human beings, we do not trust the media to report accurately. It could be that these folks simply need to protect themselves in their own homes from the criminals who've been empowered by the gun bans. Therefore, in this case, the criminals are THE POLICE WHO STOLE THESE GUNS FROM THEIR RIGHTFUL OWNERS.

Renee Rudenick, who carried a gun to school in her purse, was found not guilty after her boyfriend testified that he had put the gun in her purse without her knowledge.

Must be one of those "featherweight" models.

"Her pastor and a King County sheriff's deputy recommended arming herself for protection."

Yep--street cops know the score. But with nearly every Christian denomination supporting gun control, what will happen to this right-thinking man of God?

By calling attention to a well-regulated militia for the security of the Nation, and the right of each citizen to keep and bear arms, our Founding Fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny, which gave rise to the second amendment, will ever be a major danger to our Nation, the amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic military-civilian relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of the country. For that reason I believe the second amendment will always be important. --JOHN F. KENNEDY
